Crowns
If a tooth has suffered extensive dental decay, tooth wear, fracture, or is more filling than tooth - a dental crown may be the best solution. A crown binds the remaining tooth-structure together and encases it in a porcelain shell. A porcelain crown can change the entire shape and colour of a tooth. At Queensland Prosthodontics we only use premium Australian based labs to make our dental crowns, bridges and implant prosthetics. Because of the strength of the materials and the high precision of fit, dental crowns tend to last longer than dental fillings.
Treatment of a tooth with a crown generally takes two visits. At the first appointment, the tooth is prepared and an accurate impression is taken to allow our ceramist to make the crown. A temporary crown is made by Dr Lewis at this appointment. At the second appointment the crown is tried in and cemented.
